How to save money
- Pay at the gate for every monument except Majorelle and YSL. Platform "tickets" for Bahia or the tombs bundle a guide; they are not cheaper.
- Buy Majorelle only on the official site. Resellers mark up, and men at the gate are not staff. If it is sold out, see what still works and live availability.
- Carry small notes. Ticket desks and taxis are often "out of change" for 200 MAD notes.
- Walk. Everything in the Medina is within 20 minutes of Jemaa el-Fna. Take taxis only to Gueliz, Menara and the airport, on the meter.
- Know the hustles that cost more than any ticket: Marrakech scams.
Marrakech prices: frequently asked questions
How much are attraction tickets in Marrakech?
Most monuments run by the Ministry of Culture (Bahia, El Badi, the Saadian Tombs, the Almoravid Koubba) cost 100 MAD (~€9.50) for foreign adults. Jardin Majorelle is 170 MAD, the YSL Museum about 150 MAD, Le Jardin Secret 100 MAD, Ben Youssef Medersa 50 MAD and Dar El Bacha 60 MAD. Jemaa el-Fna, the souks, the Koutoubia gardens and the Menara olive grove are free.
Which Marrakech attractions need to be booked in advance?
Only two: Jardin Majorelle and the YSL Museum, which sell timed tickets online only and often sell out days ahead. Everything else you can pay at the gate. Le Jardin Anima's free shuttle is worth reserving.
Which attractions are closed on which day?
The YSL Museum closes on Wednesdays. Dar El Bacha and Dar Si Said (Fondation Nationale des Musées) close on Mondays. The Lazama Synagogue has reduced or no visiting on Fridays, Saturdays and Jewish holidays. The Ministry of Culture monuments and Majorelle open every day.
Can I pay by card at Marrakech monuments?
At Majorelle and the YSL Museum you pay online by card. At the Ministry monuments and Ben Youssef, card terminals exist but are not always working: carry cash in dirhams everywhere. Anima states that it accepts Visa and Mastercard.
Is there a combined ticket or city pass for Marrakech?
No general city pass exists. The only real combo is Majorelle + Berber Museum + YSL Museum (about 300–330 MAD) on the official Majorelle site. The Ministry of Culture sells each of its monuments separately, at the gate or on its e-ticket site.
How much should I budget for sights in Marrakech for 3 days?
About 750–950 MAD (€70–90) per adult for two full days of entries, plus €15–60 for a day trip on the third day. Add 150–250 MAD for taxis. See the 3-day budget below.
Do children pay less?
Usually. Majorelle is free under 10 and 95 MAD for 10–17; Ministry monuments charge 50 MAD for foreign children 7–13 and nothing under 7; Le Jardin Secret and Anima are free under 12; Maison de la Photographie is free under 15. See Marrakech with kids.
